Outfielder Kyle Lewis of Mercer University was honored Thursday with the Golden Spikes Award as college baseball's top player.

Lewis is the first Golden Spikes winner out of Mercer and the Southern Conference. He was named to six All-America teams this season and was the Southern Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive year.

The other finalists for the award were outfielders Seth Beer of Clemson and Corey Ray of Louisville and right-handed pitcher Logan Shore of Florida.
