espnW 25 Power Rankings: Week 4


From a flip-flop in Minnesota to a power play in Indiana, teams in the heartland made the most noise in the Week 4 espnW 25 Power Rankings.

But that's not to say we're not pumped up by Boogie Brozoski and Long Island Lutheran, who won the Naples Holiday Shootout in Florida in dramatic fashion and make their first appearance in the national rankings.

Two teams crashed into the top 10 this week, and four teams total make their espnW 25 debuts.

Santa Ana, CA

Last Week: 1
The Monarchs beat La Jolla Country Day (California) 74-52 with UConn recruit Katie Lou Samuelson continuing her senior-season domination with 35 points in the victory.

2Neumann-Goretti (8-0)
Philadelphia, PA

Last Week: 2
After a short holiday break, Neumann-Goretti returns to the court for back-to-back games against in-state competition Wednesday and Thursday.

3Blackman (12-2)
Murfreesboro, TN

Last Week: 3
Middle Tennessee signee Alex Johnson had two double-doubles this past week, and Blackman added two wins.

4St. Mary's (10-1)
Stockton, CA

Last Week: 6
Freshman Aquira DeCosta had 17 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Sacred Heart Cathedral (San Francisco) after St. Mary's won the West Coast Jamboree with a 60-51 win over St. Ignatius (San Francisco).

5Hopkins (11-1)
Minnetonka, MN

Last Week: 7
Iowa State recruit TT Starks scored 17 points to help Hopkins win the rematch against No. 7 Eastview, 68-55.

6Eastview (9-1)
Apple Valley, MN

Last Week: 5
Eastview got 24 points from Madison Guebert in a 68-55 loss to No. 5 Hopkins, a team Eastview beat earlier this season. Eastview rebounded with a win over Apple Valley.

7Bedford North Lawrence (15-0)
Bedford, IN

Last Week: 4
Bedford North Lawrence got just enough from stars Dominique McBryde (13 points and five steals) and Jenna Allen (13 points and 14 rebounds) to post a 44-40 win over Carmel (Indiana).

8Heritage Christian (14-0)
Indianapolis, IN

Last Week: 20
Undeclared junior point guard Tyasha Harris continued to impress, scoring 22 points to go along with seven rebounds and seven assists in a 73-71 win over dangerous Pike (Indianapolis). The Eagles have a showdown against No. 11 Whitney Young (Chicago) on the schedule for Saturday.

9Paul VI (12-1)
Fairfax, VA

Last Week: 9
Jonquanae Cole was named tournament MVP and Paul VI posted three straight wins to take the title at the Junior Orange Bowl in Miami. The Panthers returned home and added another win, 60-52 over St. Mary's-Ryken (Maryland).

10Country Day School (16-1)
Miami, FL

Last Week: 11
After knocking off No. 19 Elizabethtown last week, Miami Country Day rolled by No. 12 Long Beach Poly (California) before falling to No. 14 Long Island Lutheran (New York) in the finals of the Naples Holiday Shootout in Florida.

11Whitney Young (11-1)
Chicago, IL

Last Week: 12
Undeclared junior point guard Kiara Lewis led Whitney Young to the Title IX title in Washington D.C. Next up is a showdown with No. 8 Heritage Christian at the Chicagoland Invitational Showcase.

12Long Beach Polytechnic (9-2)
Long Beach, CA

Last Week: 8
Undeclared junior forward Eliza Matthews earned all-tournament honors at the Naples Holiday Shooutout, where Poly beat Argyle (Texas) and Rock Bridge (Columbia, Missouri) but lost to Miami Country Day (Florida).

Indianapolis, IN

Last Week: 19
Purdue recruits Lamina Cooper and Ae'Rianna Harris are putting up big numbers for Lawrence North, which takes on Pike on Thursday.

14Long Island Lutheran (6-2)
Brookville, NY

The last week of 2014 belonged to Long Island Lutheran, which beat Miami Country Day (Florida) on a last-second shot from Seton Hall recruit Taylor Byrne to win the American Division of the Naples Holiday Shootout in Florida.
15Gonzaga Prep School (9-0)
Spokane, WA

Last Week: 18
The one-two punch of Oregon crecruit Otiona Gildon and Gonzaga recruit Laura Stockton has Gonzaga Prep undefeated.

16Myers Park (10-1)
Charlotte, NC

Last Week: 14
After a long holiday break, Myers Park and USC recruit Aliyah Mazyck return to the court Tuesday night to take on Porter Ridge (North Carolina).

17Potter's House Christian (20-1)
Jacksonville, FL

Last Week: 17
Led by Rellah Boothe, Potter's House has won 12 straight since suffering its lone loss of the season, to Oakland (Murfreesboro, Tennessee).

18North Little Rock (12-1)
N Little Rock, AR

Last Week: --
Arkansas recruit Malica Monk earned all-tournament honors at the Naples Holiday Shooutout after the Charging Wildcats beat No. 20 St. Francis (Alpharetta, Georgia) 46-36 to win the National Division title.
19Elizabethtown (13-2)
Elizabethtown, KY

Last Week: 13
Elizabethtown rebounded from a heartbreaking loss to No. 10 Miami Country Day (Florida) and beat Argyle (Texas) and Homewood Flossmoor (Illinois) at the Naples Holiday Shootout. Notre Dame recruit Erin Boley earned all-tournament honors.

Alpharetta, GA

Last Week: 21
With Syracuse recruit Abby Grant knocking down 3s at a record pace at the Naples Holiday Shootout in Florida, St. Francis rolled to the National Division finals before falling to No. 18 North Little Rock (Arkansas).

21Cypress Woods (17-1)
Cypress, TX

Last Week: 23
Oklahoma recruit Nancy Mulkey and Cypress Woods take the court on Wednesday for the first time in 2015 for a game against Cypress Creek (Houston).
22Chaminade College Prep School (10-2)
West Hills, CA

Last Week: 15
Led by juniors Leaonna Odom and Valerie Higgins, Chaminade took third place at the West Coast Jamboree, beating Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland), falling to St. Ignatius (San Francisco, California) and beating South Medford (Oregon).

23Parkview (8-3)
Lilburn, GA

Parkview has been on break since going 2-2 at the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix. The Panthers' first game of 2015 is Tuesday night against Archer, which has been ranked as high as 13th this season.

24New Hope Christian Academy (20-1)

New Hope Christian rebounded from its lone loss, to Potter's House, and rolled over TPLS Christian Academy (Midlothian, Va.) at the Title IX Tourney. New Hope returned home and made it two wins in a row with a 55-45 win over Science Hill (Johnson City, Tennessee).
