NEW YORK -- Blair Brown of Penn State has won the Honda Sports Award as the top female in college volleyball.
The senior from Purcellville, Va., helped the Nittany Lions win their fourth straight NCAA title, registering 18 kills in the championship game. She was also selected to the All-Tournament team and was the Big Ten player of the year.
Brown is the third straight Honda volleyball winner from Penn State, joining Nicole Fawcett (2009) and Megan Hodge (2010). Former Nittany Lions star Lauren Cacciamani (2000) also won the award.
The other finalists were Texas' Julian Faucette, Southern California's Alex Jupiter and California's Carli Lloyd.
Brown is the fourth winner to be announced in 12 sports, and becomes eligible for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year award, which will be handed out June 27 in New York.
