Cooper Bateman to Alabama

Quarterback Cooper Bateman of Salt Lake City, ranked No. 61 overall on the ESPN 150, committed Wednesday to defending national champion Alabama.

Bateman, the No. 6-ranked quarterback in the class of 2013, chose the Crimson Tide over Auburn, Florida, LSU and Washington after visiting Tuscaloosa in April.

"The campus was awesome," Bateman said. "It was probably my favorite campus. It's gorgeous out there. I learned everything about it. The education is top-notch, but that's anywhere in the conference."

Bateman, a 6-foot-3, 195-pounder out of Cottonwood High School, becomes Alabama's 12th commitment for 2013 and its first quarterback.
