Lyle Thompson breaks scoring record

Albany's Lyle Thompson scored three goals and five assists to break the Division I single-season lacrosse scoring record with 122 points as the Great Danes upset top-ranked and third-seeded Loyola Greyhounds 13-6 to advance to the NCAA men's lacrosse quarterfinals.

Not to be outdone, Lyle's older brother, Miles, also broke the old record, adding five goals and two assists to reach 115 points.

The Thompsons are the first teammates in Division I history to have 100-point seasons. Both brothers were selected last week as finalists for the Tewaaraton Award, given to the nation's top player in college lacrosse.

Albany will face Notre Dame on May 17 in Hempstead, New York after the Irish beat Harvard 13-5.
