          Four Sooners suspended indefinitely

          Four Oklahoma football players, including receivers Jaz Reynolds, Trey Franks and Kameel Jackson, have been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules, Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops announced Wednesday night.

          Reserve safety Quentin Hayes also was suspended.

          Reynolds, Franks and Jackson made a combined 10 starts last season.

          Reynolds, who started six of those games, was OU's third-leading receiver with 41 catches for 715 yards and five touchdowns. Reynolds became quarterback Landry Jones' favorite target immediately after Ryan Broyles went down with a season-ending knee injury.

          Reynolds, however, was suspended for OU's game against Iowa State Thanksgiving weekend, then suffered a kidney injury the following week at Oklahoma State. Reynolds was hospitalized for a week after the injury and sat out the bowl game. He returned to the field this spring, and caught a touchdown pass in OU's spring game.

          This isn't the first time Reynolds has run into trouble with Stoops. Reynolds was suspended twice in 2010, including once after he made insensitive comments on Twitter following a campus shooting at the University of Texas.

          This isn't the first time Stoops has punished Franks, either. After starting OU's first two games last season, Franks was suspended two games for what Stoops termed multiple violations of team rules. Franks ended the season with 22 catches for 196 yards.

          Jackson, a true freshman last season who started for the Sooners in the Insight Bowl, tweeted earlier in the week that he was transferring from OU.

          Should Reynolds, Franks and Jackson be unavailable for OU's opener Sept. 1 at UTEP, Kenny Stills would be the only receiver on the OU roster with a career reception.

          The Sooners, however, have help on the way. OU signed five receivers in February, including three in the ESPN top 150 rankings, as well as junior college transfer Courtney Gardner.

          The Sooners also welcomed Trey Metoyer, who enrolled at OU in January after failing to qualify last fall. Metoyer led all receivers with 72 yards receiving in OU's Red-White spring game.
