RCB lose by 55 runs, but they have secured what they set out for at the start of the game - a top spot. They will play GT in Qualifier 1 in Dharamsala while SRH will head to New Chandigarh to play the eliminator. Thanks for tuning in this evening, if you missed any of the action, Sreshth Shah's report has you covered. Until tomorrow, this is me Ashish Pant, signing off on behalf of Abhimanyu, Ranjith and Thilak. Night!

Ishan Kishan is the Player of the Match: [On his innings] Just happy about it, taking one match at a time, not making it complicated for myself, just keeping it simple like I spoke earlier before the tournament. It's just about watching the ball and playing your game. [On scoring runs against RCB] I don't know to be very honest. Like I said, I just take one match at a time, but I don't know why but I do feel confident when I'm playing against them and I think end of the day, fortune favors the brave and I just try to do my thing and it works in my way. [On being mature with his shots] I mean more than maturity, it's about shot selection. So, you know when to play which shot, who to target. So I'm just trying to you know, take one ball at a time, know the situation, understand the pitch and just play your shots. You need to feel confident in the middle and if you're feeling that way just make sure you play those good shots. [On the top two spot] We had that in mind. We wanted to finish in the top two because it does give an opportunity for the team to reach the finals easily. But at the same time, Pat coming in, helping us with everything getting one of the best bowlers in our side, leadership qualities there. So it's very good to have him and the way he's leading the side I can't ask for more also as a team.

[On the team atmosphere] It's about enjoying in the middle because end of the day pressure is always there. But if you're enjoying you might get in a zone where you just play your best game. I need to give that credit to support stuff and Pat Cummins because he has always been that person who has always motivated players in the middle.

Pat Cummins: [On the win] Yeah, it's pretty impressive to get the score that we did. I thought the boys batted fantastically and some good performances. So everyone's hitting their straps. [On a chance at making the top two] I knew a lot of things had to go our way. Yeah we got close, I think they were trying to make sure they got up to that score. So we threw a few different things at him, but it's still a big win. [On the bowlers] They've been fantastic. I've actually learned a lot of from those guys as well. Eshan Malinga has been the form bowler and he's mixing up different things. And of course, you know, Sakib there as well. So a captain's dream. [Eliminator] Yeah, I think it's still five six days away. So yeah, we'll rest up for a couple days head up there and yeah, the guys know the ground pretty well, so get out there. We'll know who we're playing in the next day or two

Presentation time

A stat nugget from Sampath: No team before RCB had lost by 50 or more runs despite having six or more wickets in hand in a men's franchise T20 league game.

Ddn: "I don't think that this would dent RCB's confidence. After DDP got out, it was quite evident that they were playing for 166 then, which they did. In their mind, they did well."

Prasanna : "RCB should have sent Jitesh ahead of David so that he gets some practice ahead of playoffs. "

Abhi: "incredible achievement by srh to even qualify for the playoffs with that inexperienced bowling lineup. hats off to the coaching staff and cummins"

Nitin : "One can say, RCB did not show intent but still effortlessly made 200. Scary...."

Sakib Hussain: [Gameplan] The plan was to bowl according to the wicket. Varun bhaiya asked me to bowl to my strengths. Virat Kohli's was a dream wicket for me. [On Malinga] The plan was to bowl slower balls as the ball was gripping and sticking onto the surface. I just want to improve. I just want to give my 100%

Rajat Patidar, the RCB captain: [Target too steep?] The top five [SRH] batters played very well and they dominated. [Pitch slowed down] Not really, the slower bouncer was gripping. They executed the bouncers and yorkers very well. [Job done?] Top priority was to be on the top but the target was a lot. 255 was a big target. Hyderabad is a good wicket but once you start bowling the slow bouncers it becomes tough.

11.29pm RCB end with a loss, but will they care? Don't think so. They have sealed a top-two spot, and finished the league stage at the top of the points table. RCB started the 256 chase in style with Venkatesh Iyer going for it. Once he and Virat Kohli fell, Patidar was intent on the magic 166 number. He scored a sedate fifty and had Krunal Pandya for company, who was 41 not out. The duo ensured RCB first cemented the top-two spot, and then the top position even if they managed just 200 for 4 in their 20 overs, going down by 55 runs. A sweet loss for RCB, who will play Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 on May 26 in Dharamsala. SRH will play the eliminator on May 27.

Krishna: "Say what you will about this situation, but there is a certain downside to playing out a game like this for RCB. If this dents their confidence, and it will to some degree, the margins could prove damaging in the qualifier. "
