TCU's Devonta Abron tears Achilles

TCU junior forward Devonta Abron is done for the season after suffering a torn Achilles tendon on the team's recent trip to Canada.

Horned Frogs coach Trent Johnson told ESPN.com on Tuesday that the injury occurred with about five minutes remaining in the team's fourth and final game of the trip. Johnson said typical rehab for the injury is about five to six months.

The 6-foot-8, 255-pound Abron transferred from Arkansas and averaged 7.4 points and 5.9 rebounds last season, his first at TCU. He started 15 games and was expected to be a full-time starter this season.

TCU finished 11-21 overall and 2-16 in league play in Johnson's first season with the program.

The Horned Frogs should be improved this season with the addition of a strong freshman class led by 6-10 Karviar Shepherd The Horned Frogs also return leading scorer Kyan Anderson and bring back 6-9 junior forward Amric Fields -- who played just three games last season before suffering a knee injury.
