Texas Longhorns freshman guard Avery Bradley has declared for the NBA draft, but he's leaving himself an out by not hiring an agent.
"I will continue to go to class and complete the spring semester here at Texas," Bradley said in a statement released by Texas' media relations office. "I will schedule workouts with different NBA teams over the next month around my class schedule."
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Bradley earned a spot on the Big 12 All-Rookie team (voted on by league coaches) and Big 12 All-Freshman team (voted on by media who cover the league) as well as being named All-Big 12 honorable mention by league coaches. He ranked second on the team in scoring (11.6 ppg), steals (44) and minutes played (29.5 mpg).
The NBA draft is June 24. Typically, if players believe they will be a first-round draft pick, they will remain in the draft because first-round picks sign guaranteed two-year contracts. Bradley has until May 8 to withdraw his name and retain eligibility at Texas.
By not hiring an agent, Bradley leaves open the option to pull out of the draft and return to Texas.
Bradley, from Tacoma, Wash., was one of three Texas freshman expected to lead the Longhorns to the Final Four. After a 17-0 start that saw Texas rise to No. 1 in the polls, the season unraveled. The Horns finished sixth in the Big 12 and were bounced out of the first round of the NCAA tournament by Wake Forest.
