This Thursday, ESPN Senior Writer and on-air personality, Andre Snellings will join FIRST's "Beyond the Bots" next episode "Changing the Game: STEM: Sports and Advancing Equity" for a live, exclusive conversation exploring STEM behind sports and how math and science are used to predict outcomes and enhance the game. The episode will stream live at 5:30 p.m. ET.
Snellings, a neural engineer turned reporter writing primarily about fantasy basketball, the NBA, sports gambling and NBA analytics will discuss how he has successfully paired his passions for STEM and sports to make a career covering sports.
FIRST is a global robotics community preparing young people for the future by advancing STEM education and inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators. Their mission is engage them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills. Their series, "Beyond the Bots", was created by FIRST connect with their community and to spotlight those who are making STEM awesome.
The show also will feature Jen Welter, the first female coach in the National Football League; Yareliz Ramirez, IT services manager for the Miami Heat; and Brittany Holterman, former Division I basketball player, as well as Cincinnati Red pitcher Sean Doolittle, and will cover topics like women working in a male-dominated industry, incorporating math and science on the field of play and the importance of allyship and advocacy.
