The last two slots in the Final Four will be determined Sunday afternoon.
Will Coach K move into a tie with Dean Smith for second on the Final Four appearance list with his 11th? Can Tom Izzo make it to the Final Four for the sixth time?
Let's break down the two matchups:
MIDWEST
Michigan State vs. Tennessee
Wow, a battle of the Nos. 5 and 6 seeds vying for a trip to Indianapolis.
The Vols are in the Elite Eight for the first time. Bruce Pearl can flat-out coach and motivate his team. This is a program that has come through despite the loss of Tyler Smith.
Wayne Chism has been a PTP'er for the Vols, with 22 points and 11 rebounds versus the Buckeyes. Tennessee has contributors like Brian Williams (nine points, 12 boards) and Melvin Goins coming through.
Scotty Hopson had just three points versus Ohio State and needs a better performance against Michigan State.
Michigan State is an outstanding defensive team that showed true guts and determination in getting past Northern Iowa. The Spartans outscored the Panthers 37-23 in the second half.
Durrell Summers came through with 19 big points for the Spartans in the regional semifinals. Korie Lucious hit a big shot, spinning into the lane and nailing a jumper.
Izzo simply finds ways to win. Michigan State's three wins in the tourney came by a total margin of 12 points. Michigan State had just 10 turnovers versus Northern Iowa.
When it is all said and done, the Spartans will advance to their sixth Final Four under the remarkable Mr. Izzo.
SOUTH
Duke vs. Baylor
The Bears get to play this regional final in their home state of Texas.
Duke's trio of Kyle Singler (24 points), Jon Scheyer (18 points) and Nolan Smith (15 points) took charge against a tough Purdue club, totaling 57 of the team's 70 points.
This Duke team has worked hard on defense. In the first three games of the tourney, the Blue Devils held each opponent below 60 points and 40 percent shooting from the floor. If you rebound and defend, that is part of the equation for winning.
Scheyer finally exploded in the second half against Purdue.
Baylor simply ran away and hid against Saints Mary's in blowout city. Tweety Carter and LaceDarius Dunn combined for seven trifectas against the Gaels. Dunn has had a great tournament, scoring 49 points in the past two games.
The ACC faces off against the Big 12. Coach K gets to the Final Four for the first time since 2004. Scott Drew's club falls just short.
