Dick Vitale's roundball chatter

Each week I'll talk about the game I love, college basketball:

• Keep November 14 on your calendar. Michigan State meets Seton Hall as part of the Gavitt Games. Cassius Winston and Myles Powell will square off in a battle of two of the nation's premier guards.

• Headlines on ⁦Utah basketball indicated a two-year probation and that would make you think the Utes committed major infractions when they did nothing with any intent to gain an advantage. Coach Larry Krystkowiak won an appeal of a two-game suspension. The NCAA must punish the real cheaters!

Arizona suffered a blow as sophomore guard Brandon Williams will miss the season after another knee surgery. Williams has been plagued with knee injuries since high school. It's a tough break for coach Sean Miller, who had big plans for the sophomore.

Florida faces Utah State and Florida State meets South Florida at the Orange Bowl on December 21 in Sunrise, Florida. That should be an exciting doubleheader.

Sloan Seymour, who started 32 games for Siena last season, has transferred to George Washington. He averaged 9.1 ppg and rejoins coach Jamion Christian.

Georgetown coach Patrick Ewing was criticized for the nonconference schedule last season. The Hoyas have improved it this season. Penn State, Texas, UNC Greensboro, at Oklahoma State, at SMU, Syracuse and a potential matchup with Duke are on the schedule.

Ahmed Ali, who started 24 games for Washington State last season, has transferred to Hawaii.

• Former South Alabama head coach Matthew Graves is joining the staff of Xavier. That is a solid addition for Travis Steele.

• Former George Washington head coach Maurice Joseph has joined the staff at Fairleigh Dickinson.
