Higuain scores top spot

Now that the NBA playoffs are completely in the books, all eyes (even Kobe Bryant's) are focused intensely on World Cup players from around the globe. And as we inch closer and closer to that July 11 World Cup final, each player's performance becomes exponentially more significant -- and noteworthy -- than his last.

Therefore, the one-two spots in this week's rankings go to World Cup players who have been lighting up the screen thus far: Argentina's Gonzalo Higuaín (four goals in the World Cup, including the only hat trick) and Ghana's Asamoah Gyan (three goals, including the game winner to knock off the U.S.).

Rounding out the top five are mixed martial artist Fabricio Werdum (who stunned the MMA world by defeating Fedor Emelianenko), Germany's 20-year-old scoring machine Thomas Müller and the Arizona Diamondbacks' no-no hurler, Edwin Jackson.
