Panthers linebacker Andre Smith said team owner David Tepper called him and other teammates who protested on Monday to thank them for doing their part in the movement for social injustice. He said in 2018 when the Panthers signed Eric Reid he was concerned over what the implications might be if he expressed himself, so Tepper's call meant a lot.
