On the list because she broke the all-time international scoring record, for men and women with her 108th career goal -- in 1999. At 32, she's still near the top of her game after more than a decade in the limelight, finishing fourth in AP voting for 2003 AP Female Athlete of the Year, and voted FIFA Player of the Year in 2001 and 2002.
On the list because she won three golds (100, 200, 4x100) at Sydney in 2000 along with bronze medals in the long jump and 400-meter relay. She's also a former college basketball star at North Carolina. On the comeback trail for the 2004 Olympics, she's still the one to beat.
