On the list because she broke the all-time international scoring record, for men and women with her 108th career goal -- in 1999. At 32, she's still near the top of her game after more than a decade in the limelight, finishing fourth in AP voting for 2003 AP Female Athlete of the Year, and voted FIFA Player of the Year in 2001 and 2002.
On the list because the 15-year-old from Louisiana took silver at last year's World Championships, despite competing with a broken elbow. And she's off to a hot start in 2004, winning all four individual events at the America Cup while taking the all-around title.
