Quad Polar Disorder, a newbie to the festival, wanted no part of tutus and hat dresses. Nonetheless, she was determined to embody the beast. “It’s cathartic,” Quad says. “It’s always fun to get to play something that you don’t do every day. [Roller] Derby is a manifestation of that, and costumes and hitting people while they ask for more is a far cry from what I do during my day job.” And what is that day job? She’s a therapist.
