LEC Spring Split reaches record number of viewers

This is the third times G2 Esports and Fnatic have met in a final. G2 Esports

The League of Legends European Championship spring playoffs blasted its previous viewers record, increasing its viewership by over 76% and drawing a peak audience of 807,333 concurrent viewers across the world.

Those who tuned in were treated to G2 Esports winning their seventh European title, beating second-seeded Fnatic 3-0.

The final was set to be held in Budapest, Hungary but this was changed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The competition is one a number of Esports leagues that has been able to go completely online with all production done remotely.

The winning team secured €80,000, 90 championship points and a spot in the 2020 Mid-Season Invitational.

G2 Esports and Fnatic are the most decorated teams in European history, winning a combined 14 titles since 2013. The rivalry between the two is one of the longest running in Esport history with this the third time the two teams have faced off in a final.

MVP of the final went to G2 support Mihael 'Mikyx' Mehle.

Last year, the League of Legends hit record viewership worldwide with the World Championship Finals in Paris reaching 44 million peak concurrent viewers
