WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- Outfielder Jason Tyner has signed a
minor league contract with Cleveland and will report to the
Indians' spring training facility in a few days.
The 30-year-old batted .286 with one homer and 22 RBIs in 114
games last season with Minnesota. Tyner's homer was his first in
1,356 major league at-bats, and it came in Cleveland against
Indians right-hander Jake Westbrook.
Tyner, who hit .299 against right-handers, will give the Indians
some outfield depth in case of injuries or should the club decide
to make a trade this spring.
