ATHENS, Greece -- Greek sprinters Katerina Thanou and Costas Kenteris have had another postponement of their trial for allegedly making false statements to authorities in a doping scandal.
Both face the misdemeanor charge in connection with their claims of having been involved in a motorcycle accident on Aug. 12, 2004, on the eve of the Athens Olympics. They were accused of staging the crash to avoid a doping test.
Court officials said their trial was postponed on Wednesday until Jan. 12 because earlier cases on the court list took longer than expected.
The case has already been postponed several times. The statute of limitations on their charges runs out in 2012.
Neither were present in court. Both were Olympic medalists at the 2000 Sydney Games.
