ESPN, the home of college football, will kick off the 2000 college football
campaign with back-to-back preseason college football shows Tuesday, Aug. 22
followed by a Heisman preview show Thursday, Aug. 24.
College Football Tonight season preview special Tuesday, Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. ET, ESPN ESPN's Thursday Primetime booth team of Mike Tirico, Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit will be joined by Beano Cook to provide national championship picks, conference strengths and weaknesses, and a preview of the Heisman Trophy race. College football preview roundtable special Tuesday, Aug. 22 at 8 p.m., ESPN College football is a sport of opinion, and this one-hour special will feature top commentators providing their thoughts. Host Tirico, and analysts Corso, Mike Gottfried, Rodney Gilmore, Herbstreit and John Mackovic will discuss the top conferences, what players will fill voids left by departing players, Heisman Trophy hopefuls, and Orange Bowl predictions. Heisman Trophy preseason preview show Thursday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m., ESPN Host Rece Davis, and commentators Gilmore and Mackovic will discuss preseason Heisman favorites, including Virginia Tech quarterback Michael Vick and Purdue quarterback Drew Brees. Other players to be discussed will be quarterbacks Quincy Carter (Georgia), Eric Crouch (Nebraska) and Chris Weinke (Florida State) and running backs LaDainian Tomlinson (TCU) and Deuce McAllister (Ole Miss). Mackovic and Gilmore will also give their sleeper picks. College Gameday debuts August 27 at BCA Classic College GameDay, the most popular college pre-game show on television, will debut Sunday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. on ESPN2 in Blacksburg, Va. It will precede the BCA Classic at 8 p.m., featuring the 10th ranked Virginia Tech Hokies, last year's Sugar Bowl opponent against Florida State, hosting the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. |
