U.S. women's soccer stars Abby Wambach and Alex Morgan continued their national domination tour on Wednesday night with an appearance on "American Idol." While the talented duo didn't sing or even provide background dancing for any of the remaining contestants -- insert sadface emoji here -- they did present host Ryan Seacrest with a personalized team jersey and helped make a special announcement.
It turns out the winner of the show, on top of becoming a national anthem staple at sporting events for years to come, will get to record the official song for Fox's coverage of the Women's World Cup.
While the six remaining singers seemed pretty pleased about this news, I can't help but be a little disappointed that Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken won't be recording an official duet for the occasion.
