Why An 11-Year-Old Girl Has The Hockey World Buzzing

The Cardiff Devils, a professional hockey team in the British Elite Ice Hockey League, started recruiting a goalie on Twitter last week. And while that alone might not pique your interest, you really need to know about her.

Yes, her. And she's 11.

Meet Emma Nichols. The star goalie raised more than a few eyebrows with her shutout in the U-11 England Ice Hockey Association Junior Inter-Conference tournament. Acrobatically stopping 35 shots, she lifted South East to the finals. See for yourself below.

While South East lost to Scotland in the final, Nichols still stole the show at the tournament. And, per Yahoo, her performance was by no means a fluke -- she had a .959 save percentage in facing 76 shots this season.

No wonder the Devils want her agent to give them a call in 10 years. I have a feeling they might not be the only ones.
