If this whole tennis thing didn't work out for Serena Williams, there's no doubt she could've had a world-class career as a professional karaoke star, if that's even a thing.
Wednesday night, we witnessed her in action at Delta Air Lines' US Open pre-event, the 2nd Annual Delta OPEN Mic, and her command of the stage was almost as impressive as her tennis skills. Almost, because let's be honest, nothing compares to what she's able to do with a tennis racket.
"Orange is the New Black's" Laverne Cox hosted, as her castmate Uzo Aduba, "Saturday Night Live's" Jay Pharoah, GRAMMY Award-winner Estelle, "The Good Wife's" Alan Cumming, and more all belted out their favorite karaoke tunes.
The crowd was amused by a spot on rendition of the comedian Pharoah rapping along to Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' "Empire State of Mind." He was followed by Cumming, who went the family-friendly route with a performance of "Part of Your World," from the always popular "The Little Mermaid."
Estelle did what she does best, and brought the soul as she channeled Tina Turner, legs and all, during her performance of "Proud Mary."
But, the best of the best was Williams hitting the stage and showcasing her karaoke talents. Before kicking off her performance, the Queen of the Court quipped Cumming stole her song, forcing the defending US Open champion to adjust on the fly. The amateurs that we are would've panicked. But for a pro like Serena, it was #nobigdeal. She handled the last minute adjustment like the 21-time Grand Slam winner that she is -- salsaing, spinning, and swaying her hips along to an unlikely selection that was pure perfection, "Under the Sea."
I was going to ask if there's anything she can't do, but we all know the answer to that.
