Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Joins USATF To Get Kids Moving

USA Track & Field has helped produce some of the best athletes of all time. However, with the organization's latest partnership, it seems it's looking to create more athletes -- of all skill levels.

Having joined forces with The Hershey Company earlier this year to create "RunJumpThrow" -- a program designed to help combat childhood obesity by getting "kids excited about physical activity by introducing them to basic running, jumping and throwing skills through track and field" -- USATF announced this week a new addition to the effort: Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority.

The international organization's involvement will result in 450 chapters joining the effort, which has already assisted more than 100,000 kids across the country.

And all of the involved organizations have collaborated on creating a curriculum to train youth and adults about healthy living and exercise.

"Statistics show that almost 1 in 4 children is suffering from childhood obesity, so we know that our children need more opportunities to exercise," said SGHRO President Bonita Herring. "Through the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority partnership with USATF and RunJumpThrow, our goal is to provide more opportunities for exercise and fun."

Exercise and fun are always good ideas. And if you don't believe me, you should just check out the video above.
