Ronda Rousey turns 29 today, but instead of giving her a birthday cake or presents, the former UFC champ's mom gave her... a piece of her mind. While on Submission Radio over the weekend, momma AnnMaria De Mars claimed she predicted her daughter's loss to Holly Holm in November as a result of her coach Edmond Tarverdyan.
Last fall, De Mars made headlines after she publicly questioned Tarverdyan's abilities and made it clear she wasn't a fan of his coaching style. And obviously, her feelings have not changed. During the radio interview, De Mars called Tarverdyan an "idiot and a fraud," and blamed him for Rousey's stunning loss at UFC 193.
"Ronda as herself can beat anybody on the planet. I'm sad about it but you become an adult and make decisions. Sometimes you make mistakes and hopefully you learn from them," she said in the interview.
Tell us how you really feel, AnnMaria.
If you want to hear this for yourself, the entire interview is below for your entertainment. (Because what's better than listening to someone else's family drama, right?)
Um, happy birthday, Ronda? This should make for a fun, and not at all awkward, topic at your celebratory family dinner tonight.
