Sue Bird is already a Seattle legend, bringing two WNBA championships to the city and being a 10-time All-Star. Raising the "12" flag at a Seattle Seahawks game is just icing on the cake.
It's only preseason, but Bird pumped up the CenturyLink Field crowd by raising the flag ahead of Friday night's Seahawks-Chiefs game.
This is only the second-best ceremony involving Bird raising a flag this summer. Who could forget when she and other WNBA All-Stars raised the flag atop Seattle's iconic Space Needle? Perhaps there will be another banner ceremony once Bird sets the WNBA's career assists record, which could happen as early as Sunday.
In any case, maybe Megan Rapinoe, who's only a USWNT and Seattle Reign star (and who happens to be Bird's girlfriend), will get a chance to be the Seahawks' "12th Man" later this season. It's only fair, right?
