Fifteen things you didn't know about Michael Strahan:

1. Sophia and Isabella are his 8-year-old fraternal twin daughters. "I always have a tiara on my head," he has admitted.

2. He isn't interested in closing the gap in his front teeth. (ELLE Magazine has compared such a move to Cindy Crawford removing her mole.) In his 20s, he considered "fixing" the gap, and even had a dentist show him mock-ups of how he would look. "I was playing with the Giants," he told the magazine. "There's so much pressure to be perfect. You can fix everything now. For me, I made the conscious effort to say, 'This is who I am.' I'm not perfect. I don't want to try to be perfect. At this point, I don't think my kids would recognize me without it. They'd be like, "Who is this stranger in the house? Call 911!"

3. Among the commercials Strahan has appeared in: Pizza Hut, Subway, Snickers and a Right Guard spot in which his stinky body odor knocks out a slew of gold spectators as well as a squirrel.

4. Auf Wiedersehen! Strahan grew up in Mannheim, Germany, where his father was stationed in the Army.

5. An avid proponent of legalizing same-sex marriage, Strahan filmed a public service ad for the Human Rights Campaign in June 2011. "I have plenty of gay friends, and I don't judge them," he has said. "I want them to have all the same rights I have and all the opportunities I have to be in a relationship, a great relationship, with the person that they're in love with."

6. Strahan once hosted a home improvement show on the DIY Network called "Backyard Stadiums," where he helped families design and construct sports facilities in their own backyard -- batting cages, skateboarding halfpipes, mini golf courses and more.

7. A dog owner himself, Strahan appeared in a public service announcement for PETA called "Cold Paws," warning that dogs can suffer from frostbite, hypothermia, stress and loneliness if left outside in cold weather and urging viewers to "be your dog's biggest defender."

8. His 2007 book, "Inside the Helmet: Life as a Sunday Afternoon Warrior," has 3.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon.com. It "reveals never-before-seen details about the truth of life in the NFL, including the names of the dirtiest players, what it feels and sounds like to crush another player, which potent painkillers players take in order to return to the battlefield, the wild parties such as the Vikings' infamous Love Boat romp, the pressure to live up to a multimillion-dollar salary, the intense and sometimes volatile relationship between player and coach, and the violent blowups that occur when that pressure gets too intense."

9. When he starred in the 2009 FOX sitcom "Brothers," his character, former football star Mike Trainor, had an alleged affair with Kim Kardashian (playing herself).

10. This month, he celebrated his one-year anniversary of co-hosting "Live! With Kelly and Michael." So far, he has received a dance lesson from Korean pop star Psy, been surprised on stage by Oprah, ripped off his pants a la Magic Mike alongside Channing Tatum, lifted "pocket divas" Ripa and Kristin Chenoweth at once and appeared nude (but blurred) on camera.

11. Athletics is in his bones: Dad Gene was a boxer; mom Louise was a basketball coach; uncle Arthur played defensive end at Texas Southern University and briefly in the NFL.

12. In 2011, he helped launch the St. Jude Game Day. Give Back. program, which raised money to help kids fighting cancer and other life-threatening diseases. In just two years, he inspired fans to host thousands of parties, generating more than $2 million for charity.

13. During his Super Bowl XLII run, he started his own line of sportswear called GMEN. "I knew we had a big challenge in front of us and I wanted the guys to feel a sense of team, togetherness and pride," he writes on the GMEN website. "So out of that desire the original GMEN gear was born and with it we were one team with one mission. ...WIN!!" The original gear was all black because the Giants were underdogs, facing the undefeated Patriots, "and [we] knew we were going to a funeral for one of the teams and didn't plan on it being for us, so we dressed for the occasion." A percentage of sales goes to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

14. What do Strahan and Bette Midler have in common? He is involved in Midler's New York Restoration Project, a nonprofit dedicated to transforming and greening open spaces in NYC's underserved communities.

15. After two divorces, he's happily engaged to Nicole Murphy. Here they are flaunting their Giuseppe Zanotti (his) and Jimmy Choo (hers) shoes.
