Danica Patrick will appear in her record 14th Super Bowl television ad Sunday, but in this one she will be playing a role she has lived several times.
Patrick is among the drivers in the Fox Sports ad to promote the Daytona 500. The "Daytona Day" ad will debut during the Super Bowl. The ad shows Patrick among the drivers walking on a platform through a crowd as part of driver introductions for the race.
"It's just a natural fit for Fox to promote the Daytona 500 during the broadcast of the Super Bowl, and it's great that I was included," Patrick said in a statement. "I'm fortunate to have been in so many Super Bowl ads over the years."
While what Patrick has worn in some of her ads for GoDaddy has created talk for being revealing, what she wears in the Fox ad might create a little talk for a different reason.
Patrick is in her Nature's Bakery driver uniform in the ad, which was shot before sponsor Nature's Bakery on Jan. 19 terminated its agreement to sponsor Patrick this season.
This will be the first time in three years that Patrick has appeared in a Super Bowl ad. She was featured annually in commercials for GoDaddy from 2007 to 2014 and was supposed to appear in an ad in 2015, but GoDaddy pulled the ad amid concerns that it promoted puppy mills.
"There have been some pretty memorable commercial shoots, from body paint to muscle suits and a whole lot more, " Patrick said.
"The Fox shoot was a bit tamer than some I've been a part of before, but the spot is a great reminder that the Daytona 500 is right around the corner."
