Saylor Poffenbarger and Kiki Rice already were AAU teammates. Now they're teaming up for USA.

Poffenbarger, a 6-foot-2 guard at Middletown (Maryland), and Kiki Rice, a 5-foot-11 point guard at Sidwell Friends School (Washington, D.C.), are two of the 12 players chosen by USA Basketball to compete at the 2019 FIBA Americas U16 Championship that will be played June 16-22 in Puerto Aysen, Chile. Both Poffenbarger and Rice play AAU ball for the Fairfax Stars.

The roster was announced Thursday night after 18 finalists competed in a four-day training camp at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Also named to the team were Janiah Barker, Lauren Betts, KK Bransford, Sonia Citron, Amari DeBerry, Timea Gardiner, Londynn Jones, Olivia Miles, Aaliyah Moore and Payton Verhulst.

"We have a lot of height, a lot of athleticism, everybody is unselfish," coach Mark Campbell said. "This is the most unselfish group of people I have been around that are great basketball players. I think they really have bought into the fact that it is not about them and it is about the USA."
