Team eLevate expanded its holding in the Super Smash Bros. scene by signing Kunnu "Shofu" Shofu, a Brawl and Wii U competitor. Shofu will represent the team not only on stage but also on the mic as a caster, in addition to assisting in its media and marketing division.
"Now, with Shofu joining us, we are demonstrating our commitment to engaging the community even more," eLevate CEO Brandon Hatfield told ESPN. "We are excited at what this means for our media team as well as our professional representation at events. We welcome Shofu to the family and can't wait to see what the future brings!"
Shofu is the second recent addition to the team's holdings, after it picked up top Smash for Wii U Fox player Larry "Larry Lurr" Holland, who joined the squad in June as its first fighting game player. The team has taken interest in continuing to expand within the fighting game community, following great reception of its first pickup, Hatfield told ESPN.
"Joining eLevate is an incredible opportunity for me," Shofu told ESPN. "Larry is personally one of my friends and favorite players, and he and the rest of the staff at eLevate are poised to help me excel both as a player and a media creator. This move has really motivated me to give it all I have -- I'm looking forward to great things with eLevate!"
Shofu is known for his YouTube channel, which focuses on Super Smash Bros. and Pokémon content. However, he recently began competing at the likes of Genesis 3 and CEO in Smash for Wii U, and he commentated on the game at Genesis 3.
