The Misfits organization announced Tuesday on Facebook that top laner Barney "Alphari" Morris and AD carry Steven "Hans sama" Liv have renewed their contracts with the team for two more years.
Misfits won the chance to qualify for the League Championship Series by taking the top spot in the Challenger circuit. In the promotion series for the 2017 Spring Split, Misfits fell to Origen but bounced back against a struggling Schalke 04 squad. In a 3-1 upset over the FC-sponsored team, Misfits earned the right to play in the 2017 EU LCS. Much of the team's success can be attributed to Morris and Liv, who put up admirable stats throughout the season.
Morris averaged a 10.2 kill/death/assist ratio (KDA) throughout the entire 2016 Summer Split, and a kill participation of 52.6 percent. Liv's carry was potent across several champions, earning him the fourth-highest amount of kills in the split and second-most CS per minute, behind his own teammate Marcin "Selfie" Wolski.
These two-year contract renewals, an uncommon occurrence in the League Championship Series, acknowledge the roles of both players on the team and point towards Misfits gearing up for a potentially long-term stay in the LCS clubhouse.
