Update: Since the time of publication, Phoenix1 has confirmed via Yahoo Esports that Yoo "Ryu" Sang-ook and No "Arrow" Dong-hyeon have joined the team. The other starting members include Derek "zig" Shao, Rami "Inori" Charagh and Adrian "Adrian" Ma. Original story continues below.
Former H2K Gaming mid laner Yoo "Ryu" Sang-ook and former KT Rolster AD carry No "Arrow" Dong-hyeon are expected to sign with North American League of Legends team Phoenix1 in the coming days, sources close to both players and the team tell ESPN.
The team is currently bootcamping in South Korea against some of its peers -- Team Liquid, Echo Fox, and soon-to-be Immortals -- as well as South Korean teams as they prepare for the 2017 season.
Arrow fills the spot left vacant after the team parted ways with former AD carry Brandon "Mash" Phan on Nov. 21. Ryu will start on the lineup over current rookie mid laner Choi "Pirean" Jun-sik, although the team intends to retain Pirean. According to sources, the team felt that despite Pirean's lack in confidence and experience, he still has potential.
Should the deals go through as intended, Ryu and Arrow will fill out the roster which has only made one other move in the offseason. The team signed former Immortals support Adrian "Adrian" Ma on Nov. 22. The team also re-signed Pirean, top laner Derek "zig" Shao, and jungler Rami "Inori" Charagh. Sources have since confirmed that Ryu began negotiating with the team shortly after he was replaced on H2K Gaming.
Phoenix1 did not respond to a request for comment by the time of the publication.
