Hearthstone Esports announced Thursday a $1.2 million increase in its total prize pool across competitions for 2019, raising the total to $4 million.
The headline event in the spring, the Hearthstone Championship Tour, carries a $1 million prize pool with a series of secondary events to follow through the year.
In addition to three other invite-only tournaments, each with a $250,000 prize pool, Hearthstone plans to operate online qualifiers without regional restriction. Qualifying winners advance to the next tier of competition.
Hearthstone is retiring the Conquest format and establishing "premier play" soon after the HCT ends, designed as a seasonal round-robin with regional divisions. Additional details will be released at a later date according to a statement from the organization.
