Team Secret book spot in MDL Paris grand final

Team Secret advanced to the grand final of the $1 million MDL Disneyland Paris Major on Saturday, beating Evil Geniuses 2-1 in a tight upper-bracket final and forcing Evil Geniuses to have to win one more match for a shot at redemption.

Team Secret and Evil Geniuses, both of whom swept their way through group play and together eliminated the second-place finisher from every group, split their first two games Saturday with relative ease. Team Secret won the first game 34-14, Evil Geniuses dominated Game 2 by a score of 29-11. In the deciding game, Team Secret escaped Evil Geniuses 34-30.

Yeik "MidOne" Nai Zheng and Yazied "YapzOr" Jaradat of Team Secret and Evil Geniuses' Artour "Arteezy" Babaev earned MVP honors in the match.

Evil Geniuses will next face Team Liquid in the lower-bracket final on Sunday, and the winner will face Team Secret in the grand final later in the day. Team Liquid advanced to the lower-bracket final by beating PSG.LGD 2-1 in an elimination match.
