Southeast Asia Dota 2 legend Chai "Mushi" Yee Fung will coach his former team, Mineski, at The International 9, he announced Monday.
Mushi, who has been playing for Malaysia-based Geek Fam, made the announcement on his Facebook page three days before the start of the event.
The Mineski captain when they won their only major, Mushi will coach a team that struggled before becoming the last team to qualify for The International. Mineski joins Fnatic and TNC Predator as representatives of the Southeast Asia region.
Mineski beat Team Jinesbrus in the grand final of the Southeast Asia regional to secure the coveted spot.
It completed an unlikely run to Dota 2's marquee event after a tumultuous 2019 for Mineski, who swapped out two players and parted ways with coach Tang "71" Wenyi after failing to qualify for TI9 through Dota Pro Circuit points.
The Group Stage of TI9 takes place Aug. 15-18, with the Main Event set for Aug. 20-25 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai.
The tournament's prize pool will exceed $32 million, with the winner set to make almost $15 million.
