FaZe Clan have made their introduction into VALORANT.
Two official announcements were posted to the FaZe Clan Twitter account on Thursday, with Jason "JasonR" Ruchelski being the first reveal. In the video, JasonR also broke the news that he will serve as team captain.
One hour later, the second FaZe Clan signing was made official: Corey "Corey" Nigra, former Overwatch World Cup champion with Team USA and Washington Justice DPS specialist in the Overwatch League. He was among the marquee players to leave OWL midseason to pursue a professional career in VALORANT. After much speculation, FaZe Clan will be his new home.
FaZe also announced that Corey would be making his FaZe Clan debut in the T1 x Nerd Street Gamers VALORANT Showdown this weekend. The tournament is being touted as the first major tournament since the game's global release featuring the top teams in North America, including hosts T1, TSM, Gen.G, Immortals, Sentinels, Cloud9, 100 Thieves and a team headed by Tyler "Ninja" Blevins.
A T1 tweet posted Thursday noted that Corey will lead a squad of players in the T1 tournament that includes Zach "ZachaREEE" Lombardo, Johnny "Marved" Nguyen, Harrison "psalm" Chang and Rory "dephh" Jackson.
"I'm super excited to be competing in VALORANT, representing Faze Clan for the tourney," ZachaREEE told ESPN. "I've been a longtime fan of the org, watching their vids since Call of Duty MW2."
FaZe Clan have not clarified if the players listed other than Corey are officially signed with the organization or if they are simply representing the team for this particular tournament. Also, no word on why JasonR is not participating in the tournament.
