Week 8 is here, almost through the halfway point of the season, and hopefully you've been playing the waiver wire all along. If so, you'll see popular pickups like Carson Palmer (dumped in a ton of leagues when he got injured), Jerick McKinnon, Ronnie Hillman, Branden Oliver and Owen Daniels ranked among the starters at their positions. If you're hitting your waiver wire in need, you'll see that Ryan Tannehill is my top QB choice, averaging 20 points a game and getting, you know, Jacksonville. Speaking of the Jags, you'll see I'm slightly less enamored with Denard Robinson than others might be. Nice story, but think he'll find the sledding a bit tougher this week.
I'm actually not super-high on any of the popular free-agent running backs this week, though if I had to pick one, Tre Mason is whom I would choose for this week and the rest of the season. And by the way, this is not a typo; Darren McFadden is inside my top 25 at running back. Currently healthy and actually looking good, he should do well against Cleveland.
It will be another tough week for owners of Falcons players, starting with Matt Ryan, who should struggle again away from the Georgia Dome against a Lions defense that is playing lights out. Those playing the streaming defense game -- and those who should play the streaming defense game; I'm looking at you, Seattle owners -- should check out the Dolphins, Vikings, Chiefs and Colts. As we discussed on the podcast Tuesday morning, Seattle's defense is now 22nd among fantasy defenses. Yes, they've had a bye but still. No double-digit games since Week 1, on the road ... they are outside my top 10 this week.
As always, these ranks are based on ESPN standard scoring (non PPR) and will be continually updated throughout the week so check back often and always make sure to check the time stamp so you know how recent the update was. Good luck in Week 8!
