The Red Sox have reached an agreement on a two year deal with free agent catcher/DH/first baseman David Nilsson, who last season played in Japan and with the Australian team in the Olympics.

However, the deal is contingent on Nilsson passing a physical, and since he lives in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, it is about a five day trip to get to the U.S.

So Nilsson probably won't be in to Boston to take the physical and complete the deal until the week after Thanksgiving.
