Doyle beats Fleisher in playoff to win State Farm senior golf

HUNT VALLEY, Maryland (Ticker) -- As a former hockey player, Allen Doyle is no stranger to sudden-death. He's no stranger to Bruce Fleisher, either.

Just three days after his 53rd birthday, Doyle won his second playoff in three weeks, parring the third sudden-death hole Sunday to defeat Fleisher and capture the State Farm Senior Classic.

Two weeks ago, Doyle topped Doug Tewell in a playoff to win his second major title at the Senior Players Championship. On Sunday, the former hockey star at Norwich University caught the player for whom he once caddied with a 5-under-par 67, then watched Fleisher bogey the third playoff hole.

Doyle rolled in a par putt at the par-4 17th to nail down his seventh victory since joining golf's elder circuit in 1999. The $217,500 first prize left him just $40,590 behind Fleisher in second place on the Senior PGA Tour money list.
