GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- A woman who took a golf cart for a pre-dawn spin was charged with drunken driving after being spotted swerving on a street, police said Friday.
At 5 a.m., a dispatcher fielded a call reporting a woman driving
a golf cart down the middle of Moss Mill Road, but Patrolman
Richard Barber, who responded, couldn't find her.
Minutes later, after being sent on an unrelated call, Barber
spotted the cart weaving from side to side on Moss Mill Road and
turned on his overhead emergency lights. Driver Svetlana
Adelizzi wouldn't stop, according to Lt. Shawn Mildren.
Adelizzi pulled over after Barber turned on his siren, telling
him she was lost. She was four miles from home and headed in the
opposite direction.
Adelizzi, 32, of Galloway Township, was charged with drunken
driving after failing a breath test, Mildren said.
She was also charged with reckless driving, driving without a
license and operating an unregistered vehicle.
The cart was impounded.
