Creamer reportedly might skip college

For junior golfer Paula Creamer, the career path to the pros will go through Q-school directly from high school.

The 18-year-old Creamer might skip college if she is successful in the LPGA's qualifying school, which begins Sept. 21, Golfweek magazine and USA Today reported.

Creamer will compete as an amateur to preserve her eligibility for the Women's World Amateur Team Championship in Puerto Rico in October.

By remaining an amateur, according to USA Today, Creamer would have the option of attending college if she does not earn her card this fall. Or she could try to qualify by playing six tournaments on sponsor's exemptions.

She is expected to graduate in December and can turn pro the following spring if she earns her tour card, USA Today reported.

Cramer tied for 13th in the U.S. Women's Open in July.
