MUNICH, Germany -- John Daly withdrew from the BMW International on Thursday after being hospitalized with a gastrointestinal virus.
Daly, who won the tournament in 2001, was taken to a Munich
hospital on Thursday morning and doctors advised him not to play in
the tournament.
Tournament spokesman Klaus Waeschle said Daly was being kept in
the hospital while doctors determined whether he was well enough to
fly back to the United States later Thursday.
The 40-year-old felt unwell after arriving in Munich on Tuesday
and withdrew from a shootout that day and from the pro-am Wednesday to recover for the tournament.
