Newly minted pro Jon Rahm earned one of four spots at next month's Open Championship with a top-three finish Sunday at the Quicken Loans National.
Singh, 53, finished solo second, a shot ahead of Rahm, 21, at Congressional Country Club. Rahm won 11 career events during his career at Arizona State.
A three-time major winner, Singh hadn't qualified for The Open since Muirfield in 2013.
After a T-23 last week at the U.S. Open marked his first major championship test, Rahm's second opportunity will come with the prospect of earning a paycheck at a major for the first time.
Varner, the only African-American currently with a PGA Tour card, will be playing in just his second career major, the other being the 2013 U.S. Open at Merion, where he missed the cut.
The Open invite will be one of many new perks for Hurley, who also earned his way into next week's WGC-Bridgestone Invitational as well as the Masters in April. Both will be firsts for the Naval Academy grad who has competed in a total of four majors in his career.
