Tiger started the Motorola Showdown at Sherwood poorly, while Duval stayed steady and birdied the hole to win it.
Tiger Wood teed off first on the first hole (a par 4), landing in the rough, atop a small hill. David Duval fared better, with his ball landing clean on the fairway. The two walked a fairway's length apart while the crowd trailed them quietly to begin their second shot.
Woods, throwing grass into the air to gauge the wind, then knocked his second shot about 15 feet from the pin. Duval again fared better on his second shot, when about 70 yards from the hole, he knocked his ball over the cup to about seven feet away from the pin. Duval then birdied the hole.
Woods missed his birdie putt by about two feet, and made par, losing the hole.
