DUBLIN, Ohio -- Greg Norman withdrew from the final round of the Memorial Tournament, the second time in his career he has failed to complete a tournament that was carried over to Monday because of rain.

Norman was 2 under through five holes, still 16 strokes behind Tiger Woods, when the fourth round was suspended on Sunday. Woods was leading by six strokes over Steve Lowery.

A PGA Tour spokesman said Norman had a meeting with Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and another state legislator that he didn't want to cancel because they had taken time out from the Memorial Day holiday.

According to the governor's schedule, he was off Monday for "personal time."

Norman, who reportedly earned $150 million last year from his varied business interests, will receive unofficial last-place money of $5,580.

Norman also withdrew from the Tour Championship in 1996, when Tom Lehman had nine-stroke lead and went on to win by six. He gave no reason for withdrawing that year.
