SURREY, British Columbia -- Grant Waite, whose lone PGA Tour victory came seven years ago, moved past overnight leader Jesper Parnevik on Saturday to take a one-stroke edge into the final round of the Air Canada Championship.

First-round leader Jesper Parnevik was frustrated with his play Saturday. He enters the final round one shot off the lead.

After starting the third round a shot behind Parnevik, Waite carded a 3-under-par 68 to get to 13 under overall at the $3 million event.

Three players, including Parnevik, are at 12 under.

"I had a lot of good shots in the middle of the round and played very well but couldn't get any putts to fall. I think I played well enough to shoot a good score," said Waite, a New Zealander who won the 1993 Kemper Open.

Parnevik's 70, which ended with a three-putt at the 18th hole, tied him with J.L. Lewis and Tommy Armour III, who each shot a 68.

"Of course I'm disappointed," Parnevik said. "Any time the course is there for the taking and you don't take your opportunity. ... There's one more day to go."

Joe Durant was fifth at 11 under after a 66.

Mike Weir, trying to become the tournament's first repeat champion, bogeyed two of his last four holes for a 69. He's tied for 19th at 8 under.

"I'm going to be quite a few back but the way I'm rolling, I think I'm due a lot of putts," said Weir, a Canadian. "I need to get off to a really good start. I've always played the first few holes pretty well here. I just didn't any breaks today."

Mark Calcavecchia, who won the event three years ago when it was known as the Greater Vancouver Open, shot a 65 to get to 10 under. Sergio Garcia was another stroke back after a 69.

"You can still shoot a good round and be there. It all depends on how the leaders play tomorrow," said Garcia, who beat Tiger Woods in a made-for-TV match-play event Monday.

"We still have some chances."
