With the 2000 PGA Tour season heading toward its finish, players are starting to take a serious look at a couple of important numbers on the money list.

For those having strong seasons, finishing in the top 30 is the necessary number to qualify for the season-ending Tour Championship and its $5 million purse. For those concerned about keeping their playing privileges for next season, 125 is the key number.

By virtue of winning the Pennsylvania Classic, Chris DiMarco guaranteed himself a spot at the Tour Championship. He jumped from 40th to 16th on the money list with $1,477,069 -- more than he had won in his entire career heading into 2000.

But DiMarco wasn't the only winner this week. Mark Calcavecchia, who tied for second at Pennsylvania, jumped from 24th to 18th and has virtually secured his spot in the Tour Championship field.

Chris Perry and Scott Hoch -- also in the logjam for second at Pennsylvania -- were other movers. Perry jumped to 26th, more than $80,000 above Nick Price, the man on the bubble. Hoch didn't crack the top 30, but his strong performance got him to No. 32 and well within striking distance with six qualifying events to go.

Although Frank Lickliter had to be disappointed with a poor Sunday, his tie for 12th in Pennsylvania moved him from 105th to 94th, locking up his playing card for 2001.

Bradley Hughes came in back in the pack and failed to get off the No. 125 position. He has $308,382 in his quest to avoid Q-School.

Others who made moves this week in Pennsylvania included Mathew Goggin (from 127 to 109), Carl Paulson (from 117 to 100), K.J. Choi (from 135 to 128) and Craig Perks (from 140 to 135).

Brian Watts and Sandy Lyle had strong tournaments in Pennsylvania, but both remain more than $100,000 off the pace.

Robin Freeman had a good chance to follow Lickliter's lead, but a final-round 82 dropped him from 14th to 69th at Pennsylvania and left him stuck at No. 107 on the money list. He's probably in good shape, but a stronger finish would have lightened his mental load.
