Bob Duval made some history at last year's Emerald Coast Classic, but he needed some help from his son across the state.

Duval's first and only Senior Tour victory came hours after David Duval had won The Players Championship on the PGA Tour. Their victories made them the only father-son combination to win PGA Tour-sanctioned events on the same day.

Duval dominated The Moors Golf Club last year, opening with a 61 to take a four-shot lead. He added a 68 on Saturday and 71 on Sunday to hold off Bruce Fleisher by two strokes.

Duval's opening-round 61 was the lowest round on the Senior Tour in 1999, but it wasn't the best round in this event. That distinction belongs to Isao Aoki, who set the Senior Tour scoring mark with a 60 during the 1997 Emerald Coast Classic.

Aoki had a shot at 59 during his record-setting round, but he missed birdie putts of 25 and 30 feet on the final two holes.

While Duval is back to defend his title, Aoki and Raymond Floyd are former champions not in this year's field. Dana Quigley, the 1998 champ, and 1996 winner Lee Trevino are in the field, however.

Duval has struggled at the start of the 2000 campaign. Although he finished fourth at the Royal Caribbean Classic, he is a combined 22-over in his five other starts, with no other top-25 finishes.

Among those set to challenge Duval for his title are Fleisher, Allen Doyle, Hale Irwin, Gil Morgan and Jim Colbert.

Colbert is coming off a victory last week in the unofficial Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf, where he teamed with Andy North for the title. Morgan is playing his first stroke-play event this season, having missed the first two months of the season with a rib-muscle injury.

The Emerald Coast Classic is the final tuneup for the Seniors before consecutive majors. Next week, The Tradition is held in Scottsdale, Ariz. Then after a week off, the PGA Seniors' Championship will be contested in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
