Nike Skills June 08: Tayler Hill has one of quickest first steps of any high school player and even here with a wealth of quickness she can get by people. In the gym this week against the top players it showed her quickness alone will not allow her to score at will. She must master setups and counters to maximize her abilities at the next level. When setting up moves with her jabs becomes automatic and she can read the defense instantaneously, her game will take off even more. She has the ability to hit the step-back jumper and collapse defenses, so becoming a more refined passer could also expand her game offensively.
USA June 07: Hill has incredible quickness and a truly explosive first step. She can get by even the most skilled defender if given an angle or half a step. On top of her quickness and great ability to collapse defenses with dribble penetration she had deep range. She can knock down the three-ball from behind the arc. The only real critique is the shooting motion and more so the amount of time it takes her to get rid of the ball. Her release point if good but her time to release will need to improve. Right now she is such a threat to beat the defender off the bounce that most give her plenty of space to shoot if she wants to. Defensively she adds quick hands and good anticipation to her quick feet. She has the tools to be a tremendous defender if she chooses to.
